Finally rolling: 2024 GWM Tank 300 Hybrid deliveries starting after lengthy delays for the budget Jeep Wrangler rival

The Tank 300 Hybrid debuted before the petrol, but hasn’t been available to customers until now.

GWM launched its Tank 300 as a hybrid in Australia, but up until now, buyers have only had access to the petrol-powered model.

Now, GWM has finally started delivering Tank 300 Hybrids to customers after a long delay, with cars rolling into showrooms and driveways.

Launched in December 2023, the Tank 300 Hybrid pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor in the nine-speed automatic transmission to produce 258kW and 615Nm - compared to the petrol version’s 162kW/380Nm.

A spokesperson confirmed to CarsGuide that hybrid versions of the Tank 300 started rolling into dealerships “over the past couple of weeks” and that cars are now being delivered to customers.

Pricing for the range remains competitive, with petrol variants in ‘base’ Lux and top-spec Ultra at $46,990 and $50,990 drive-away respectively, while the hybrid versions of the same two trim levels are about $10,000 more each - $55,990 and $60,990 each, also drive-away.

So far in its ‘debut year’ (to the end of September), 386 petrol-powered Tank 300s have been delivered to customers, though the sales figures will show a broader picture of the model’s overall popularity as hybrid deliveries ramp up.

Given the hybrid was available to order in December 2022, it’s possible there will be a spike in delivery figures as the brand catches up before it settles into a steady sales flow again.
