The Compass’ facelift only arrived last July, but it’s already been given a round of price rises.

Just four months after its staggered arrival began, Jeep Australia has raised the cost of most variants of the facelifted second-generation Compass small SUV.

While the entry-level Launch Edition is unchanged, at $37,950 plus on-road costs, the mid-range Limited and S-Limited, and flagship Trailhawk are now $400 more expensive, at $44,350, $47,350 and $51,650 respectively.

Speaking to CarsGuide, a Jeep Australia said no changes have been made to the Subaru XV, Kia Seltos, Nissan Qashqai and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross rival’s standard specification, with “the usual external factors” instead behind the pricing adjustments.

For reference, the Launch Edition, Limited and S-Limited are powered by the same 129kW/230Nm 2.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol four-cylinder engine, while the Trailhawk steps up with a 125kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit.

The front-wheel-drive Launch Edition is mated to a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, while the all-wheel-drive Limited, S-Limited and Trailhawk instead have a nine-speed item.

As reported, the Compass’ facelift ushered in a revised exterior and an overhauled interior, with the latter headlined by the availability of a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen multimedia system.

The small SUV also better caters for smartphones with not only wireless smartphone charging, but also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Justin’s dad chose to miss his birth because he wanted to watch Peter Brock hopefully win Bathurst, so it figures Justin grew up to have a car obsession, too – and don’t worry, his dad did turn up in time after some stern words from his mum. That said, despite loving cars and writing, Justin chose to pursue career paths that didn’t lend themselves to automotive journalism, before eventually ending up working as a computer technician. But that car itch just couldn’t be scratched by his chipped Volkswagen Golf R (Mk7), so he finally decided to give into the inevitable and study a Master of Journalism at the same time. And even with the long odds, Justin was lucky enough to land a full-time job as a motoring journalist soon after graduating and the rest, as they say, is history. These days, Justin happily finds himself working at CarsGuide during the biggest period of change yet for the automotive industry, which is perhaps the most exciting part of all. In case you’re wondering, Justin begrudgingly sold the Golf R (sans chip) and still has plans to buy his dream car, an E46 BMW M3 coupe (manual, of course), but he is in desperate need of a second car space – or maybe a third.
