MY WIFE and I have recently retired and are looking for a four-wheel-drive to go beach fishing, tow a caravan to national parks, and to act as a general vehicle around town. We could pay up to $30,000. A 2002/3 Nissan Pathfinder or a Holden Frontera seem to be the smallest that could comfortably and safely tow a van with a weight of up to 1600kg laden. Your opinions of these vehicles would be greatly appreciated because we are novices with 4WDs.
THE Nissan Pathfinder is a well-proven, compact four-wheel-drive. The Holden Frontera is something of an orphan, though the model you are thinking of is a vast improvement on the first to come here.
