Overheating while towing in a 2013 Holden Colorade 7

We bought a 2013 Holden Colorado 7 three years ago to pull a van, but due to health issues we weren’t able to go until July this year. When towing up a hill the temp gauge went to a fraction over half and we had slow to 70 km/h on each hill. The oil was just under three quarters when we got home after driving to and from Tweed Heads. Our dealer said this is ok, adding that if it was a problem a warning light would come have on and bells would have rung. We have done 105,000 km. We have had no trouble when not towing, but will this be a problem for future towing? If so what can be done?

It will be an ongoing issue when towing. Drive to the conditions, don’t try and tow up hills in overdrive gears when the engine will work harder, and if you’re worried have a heavy-duty transmission oil cooler fitted.
