I HAVE two problems with my 1997-98 Daewoo Cielo, which has 40,000km on the clock. When the engine is turned on the control light comes on then goes out, but I now find when the engine reaches halfway on the temperature gauge the indicator comes back on and stays on. Also, a very high-pitched whistling sound occurs while driving. When the clutch pedal is depressed it cuts out, then comes back on when the clutch pedal is released..
THE whistling that goes away when you depress the clutch may be from the clutch throw-out bearing. The engine warning light is much more difficult to diagnose. Daewoos were prone to a range of electrical problems that could account for the odd behaviour of the warning light, but it's best to take the car to a dealer and have it checked.
