Skywell Reviews

Skywell is a Chinese EV brand owned by Skyworth Group, a company better known for consumer electronics. It entered the car market in 2017 through a joint venture with Nanjing Golden Dragon, shifting its focus from electric buses to passenger vehicles. The brand’s goal has been to tap into China’s booming new energy vehicle segment.

The company launched its first electric SUV, the Skywell ET5, in 2020. It’s since been rebadged in some markets as the Skyworth EV6, reflecting the parent company’s branding strategy. Built on a purpose-designed EV platform, the midsize SUV targets budget-conscious buyers wanting practical range and cabin tech.

Skywell is preparing to expand globally, with exports beginning in Europe and South-East Asia. An Australian launch hasn’t been finalised, but the company’s focus on affordable EVs could suit local demand. Like many newer Chinese brands, Skywell faces a crowded field, but its tech roots could help set it apart.
