The Solterra is Subaru's first fully electric vehicle, and a platform-share with Toyota's bZ4X. The Touring grade is the top of just two launch grades, costing from $76,990 before on-roads.
In true Subaru fashion, most of the key equipment is available on the base model, but the Touring grade adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a 10-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, a wireless phone charger, synthetic leather interior trim, power adjustment for the front passenger seat, a panoramic sunroof and an 'intelligent self-parking' feature.
This adds to the entry car's 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, cloth interior trim with power adjust for the driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, LED headlights, carpet mats and a cargo tray, as well as a power tailgate.
The Touring is also the only grade which can be chosen with two-tone paint schemes.
Regardless of grade, the Subaru Solterra is all-wheel drive, setting it apart from the entry-grade bZ4X which can be had in front-wheel-drive form. The Solterra's peak outputs are 160kW/337Nm.
Both variants also get a 71.4kWh battery pack granting it a WLTP-rated driving range of 414km on a single charge. DC charging hits a claimed peak of 150kW meaning a 10 - 80 per cent charge time of roughly 30 minutes, while on AC it can hit a peak of 11kW for a charge time in six and a half hours.
