Two new EVs from a Korean carmaker will hit Australian showrooms in 2025.
KGM’s (formerly known as SsangYong) Musso Ute and Torres EVX SUV will be available in Australia before the end of the year, according to a KGM Australia spokesperson.
The Musso is a dual-cab ute that is currently available with a 2.2-litre diesel in Australia, starting from $42,500 drive-away.
The diesel Musso is yet to grab a significant hold in Australia, with only 138 sales to the end of September 2025, but a unique electric option could give the recently renamed brand some buyer attention.
There is only one major all-electric ute available in Australia, which is LDV’s eT60, starting from $92,990 drive away. That is set to be replaced by the LDV eTerron 9 ute, but timing is unclear.
The EV Musso has been on sale in South Korea and comes in single-motor and dual-motor variants.
The single-motor variant delivers 152kW and 340Nm to the front wheels, while the dual-motor achieves 304kW and 636Nm as an all-wheel drive.
Its 80.6kWh LFP battery facilitates a claimed driving range of 420km (WLTP) and can fast charge from 10-80 per cent in 24 minutes.
KGM has also confirmed the arrival of the long-awaited all-electric Torres EVX before the end of 2025. This model was announced in South Korea back in 2023.
The South Korean variant has a single motor that produces 152kW and 340Nm, with a 73.4kWh LFP battery that offers a 433km driving range.
On a fast charge, the EVX can be juiced up from 10-80 per cent in around 37 minutes.
The Torres EVX will seek to attract attention in the fiercely contested SUV market, including the all-electric Hyundai Kona, which starts from $54,000 before on-road costs. Kia's EV5 is another potential competitor and that starts from $56,770 before on roads.
It will launch alongside the hybrid variant that is rumoured to be priced at less than $50,000 drive-away. It is likely the EVX will sit above that in price.
