Subaru capped price servicing - cost, schedule & info

All Subarus sold after July 1st 2014 are covered by Subaru's capped-price servicing scheme.

Subaru offers a capped price servicing plan for all of its current models, and it falls under the company’s ownership program known as the Subaru Capped Price Servicing Program.

According to Subaru, “all Subaru owners who purchased their vehicle from 1 July 2014 onwards enjoy the benefits” of the program, and the company claims its listed prices “cover everything required for a standard scheduled service”.

In order for you to see what price you will have to pay, Subaru’s Australian website requires you to input the car’s VIN (vehicle identification number) or the registration, which means it isn’t as simple or transparent as some other companies.

As you can see from our table below, Subaru’s service intervals are all over the place. Older models need servicing every six months or 12,500km, while newer models have maintenance requirements every 12 months or 12,500km (which is still short by industry standards). The costs are higher than most, too.

A recently announced five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty helps ease the pain a little, but the brand still only offers 12 months roadside assist. It isn't as good as it could be, then.

Subaru models are known for their longevity, but that comes at a cost. The brand requires more regular servicing for most of its models, and that means a higher cost of ownership. 7/10

See the table below for the average cost per service for each of the models in the Subaru range, plus the service intervals applicable to each of the different variants listed.
