Volkswagen Golf 2011: Engine failure

I wouldn’t recommend replacing the 1.4 with a GTi motor; there are too many other changes you’d have to make to keep it legal, gearbox, suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres.

Stick with the 1.4 or sell the car and buy a GTi.

Volkswagen Golf 2011: Accelerator problems

We haven’t been getting reports of problems once the DSG has been replaced under the recall, as yours has, so I doubt you have any claim against VW for this latest problem.

Best small to medium diesel cars?

It's probably easier to eliminate those that don't stack up, those being the VW Golf, Holden Cruze and Ford Focus.

All have transmission questions over them.

Volkswagen Golf 2011: Oil consumption

I assume that the cause of the catalytic convertor light coming on is that engine is burning excessive oil and that has contaminated the converter. It would seem to be an extreme move to install a new engine, but hopefully they will do it as a goodwill gesture.

Mk6 VW Golf extended warranty

It really comes down to how confident you are that the car will get through another 10,000 km, the distance your wife would be expected to drive in the next two years. The chances of having a major meltdown in such a new car having done very few kilometres are pretty slim and I wouldn't be buying the extended warranty. 2011 VW Golf golf rattling engine resolved

Glad we could be of help. It's also nice to know that VW is on the case and fixing issues that crop up on customers' cars.

Golf diesel engine rattles

There have been some reported issues with the fuel pump failing, but when it happens the engine just shuts down and won't restart. There are also reported issues with the solenoid injectors used, and I suspect that could be where your issue lies. I would take it back to your dealer and demand it be investigated and fixed.
