My 2017 Toyota Kluger is just out of warranty and needs a new water pump, should Toyota cover the cost?
By David Morley · 27 Apr 2021

I have a Toyota Kluger 2017 I bought new, which was just out of warranty in July 2020. In March, I took the car to Toyota for service and was told the water pump was showing signs of a leak, will need to be monitored and might need to be replaced in the next service (if required). It was shock as my car has barely done 39,000 km. A friendly staff-member at Toyota then asked me to bring the car back, took the photos and sent them to Toyota Australia to see if it would cover the cost of replacing the water pump out of courtesy and their brand reputation. This morning, I received the call from Toyota with the bad news: Toyota Australia won't cover the cost because the car is out of warranty. What should I do? Contact ACCC or just pay for the cost out of my pocket?

Why is my 2020 Hyundai i30 misfiring?
By David Morley · 24 Mar 2021

I have a 2020 Hyundai i30 sedan with a strange intermediate misfire when cold starting. It seems to run like it’s missing a cylinder every few days when cold. I’ve had the RAC out three times and the car has been back to the shop three times. The engine light has come on twice for a knock sensor fault. I’m guessing that’s because of the way it starts. Hyundai can’t fault it and tell me its fine. It's going back again tomorrow and hopefully we can resolve the problem as it's starting to cause stress and anxiety as it's my wife's car and she refuses to drive it when it happens. Any advice?

What is causing a front end knock in my 2020 Holden Colorado ZL1?
By David Morley · 18 Sep 2020

I have a six-month-old Z71 Holden Colorado. It has always had a knock when the front right wheel goes into a hole on the road. Now the left side is doing the same. The local Holden dealer has tightened all the front end and also the body-anchor points behind the front guards. The issue is still there. Do you have any suggestions as to what this could be?
