Car Servicing
Is the ignition barrel in my 2003 Ford Courier connected to the alarm in any way, or can I just pop in a new ignition barrel without having to go and get it adjusted or re-computerised by a key specialist?
I bought a new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in 2014.
It has been a nightmare almost from the start with numerous and various problems with the engine that have yet to be resolved by the dealer, or Jeep.
I had a small win via the Dept. Fair Trading late last year whereby Jeep negotiated to give me 12 months extended warranty. Prior to contacting the Dept. Fair Trading I tried unsuccessfully to contact Jeep's customer relations. I was told they would be back in touch within five working days, but I wasn't given a reference number, and I got no feedback.
Twice I was given this runaround, so I only bothered to speak to Fair Trading after that.
I feel I must wait for feedback from Jeep before I make a decision as to what to do next, but I feel they are waiting for me to die of old age/warranty to run out (18 months), and generally don't give a damn.
I would like a full refund, but failing that a replacement engine. I suspect Jeep wants to 'repair' it yet again, which I believe is going to be throwing good money after bad.
Beginning in February this year I have tried unsuccessfully to talk to the dealer, having left a number of messages to contact me.
I believe the number of problems I have had with my Jeep should make it a 'lemon'. Do these failures entitle me to a refund, replacement, or compensation? If Jeep decides to repair do I let them and continue to try for a refund/replacement, or do I tell them before they commence repairs that it is my intention to go for a refund?
I had a dream, chased it down, and it turns out a nightmare. The whole experience has been traumatic for my family.
Can you tell me what size spark plug spanner I need for my '93 Ford Courier?
Can you tell me when VW's cam chain tensioner problems were resolved?
I'm considering a used Tiguan 132TSi or Yeti 112TSi, 2012 or later, depending on price, and I don't want the expense of fitting an updated part.
I'm not sure what evidence a dealer could give to assure me the vehicle had been upgraded.
After a short drive in my 2008 Holden Captiva all engine lights come on and it goes into limp home mode.
I have taken it to a Holden dealership and $2000 dollars later it was cleared, only to reappear three weeks later.
To make matters worse all of a sudden when starting the car it seems the battery is flat until you pump the accelerator and then the car starts.
Any help would be appreciated.
My 2013 Hyundai i30 went in seven weeks ago for a major repair under warranty for a crack in the sunroof. The repair is still not complete.
I have been told on two separate occasions that the car has been put back together and that the sunroof or the interior blind are not working.
The dealership has been told by Hyundai that the Hyundai wiring diagrams to fix the problem with the car do not exist and they are not providing a solution for the dealership that has repeatedly contacted them.
I have contacted Hyundai Customer Care myself with no reply.
I'm not sure what my next step should be and neither does the dealership.
My main concern is that my car is not being repaired back to a factory standard as Hyundai is providing no support or answers for the dealership to fix the problem. I have been told it is an intermittent electrical fault, which I fear, impacts on my safety when driving the car.
The main reason that I bought a brand new Hyundai was for its safety features and the assumption that I wouldn't encounter a situation like this. I'm at a loss as to how fix this problem and get my car back repaired to a safe and factory standard.
I have a 2013 Navara D40 auto with a very noticeable thud just a second after driving off.
The vehicle was still under warranty when first reported to our dealer and nothing was found when reported at 80,000 km service.
Now, at the 90,000 km service when the warranty has run out they are telling me the suspension is too soft and front and rear shockers and the rear leaf springs need to be replaced and they are not covered under warranty.
This seems very strange and I would like your thoughts on this.
I have been smashing my head against a brick wall with Nissan Waverley and Nissan Australia regarding a customer service/compensation claim and hoping you may have a Nissan contact that would look into my case. Long story short Nissan Waverley had my Patrol for six weeks, but didn't fix it. I then took my car to Nissan Ferntree Gully who fixed it in 3 hours.
I leased my 2010 Holden Captiva LX five years ago. About six months after purchase the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) light started to come on. I then had to take it to the dealer for fixing.
The problem has not been fixed with the car has going into limp mode more times than I care to remember. The solution from the dealership has ranged from doing re-burns and resetting the computer to questioning our driving habits! I have contacted Holden in Melbourne seeking assistance but seem to be getting the royal run around; so no help from that quarter. I have found a really good mechanic who has been exceedingly helpful but even he is at a loss as to why the DPF is constantly coming on. My wife and I will now no longer deal with Holden period!
Are you aware of this DPF problem? If so what solutions/fixes do you recommend?
