For the third-generation Tiguan, the Life is the base variant, which ships exclusively with the base 110TSI engine.
Starting from $44,990 plus on-road costs, the Life is only $1000 more expensive than the base version of the previous-generation model while bringing a lot more standard equipment.
This includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a full array of LED lights, a 12.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, 'comfort' cloth seats with manual adjustments, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, dual wireless phone chargers, ambient dashboard lighting and an electric tailgate.

A carryover engine from the previous car, the 110TSI is a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 110kW/250Nm. However, for the new-generation model, it is paired to an upgraded seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which sends power to the front wheels only.
The 110TSI variants have an official/combined fuel consumption of 7.6L/100km, although this powertrain is not equipped with a stop/start system for the Australian-delivered Tiguan variants.
The full array of active safety equipment features including auto emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring as well as rear- and front-cross traffic alert.
All Tiguans are covered by Volkswagen's five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
