Chery’s Tiggo 8 Pro Max is the brand’s first seven-seat SUV offering in Australia, and the Ultimate grade is the top-spec version, and the only all-wheel-drive variant.

It competes on price and spec with low-cost seven-seat rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and LDV D90, as well as mainstream offerings like the Nissan X-Trail, Mitsubishi Outlander, and Honda CR-V.

In the context of these rivals, the Ultimate grade seems the best value thanks to its high level of standard inclusions, its powerful engine, and its all-wheel-drive system. It costs $47,990 drive-away.

Its comprehensive list of gear includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and multimedia touchscreen respectively, synthetic leather interior trim, built-in sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 10-speaker Sony-branded audio system, a wireless phone charger, a 360-degree parking camera, interior ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, a power tailgate, heated exterior mirrors, a built-in dashcam, third-row air vents with independent fan speed control, illuminated door sills, a retractable cargo blind, a fragrance system for the climate control, puddle lamps, a panoramic sunroof, and the option to choose an alternate brown interior colour scheme.

The Ultimate is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the rest of the Tiggo 8 Pro Max range, and it gets the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, but it is the only variant to score a Borg-Warner-sourced all-wheel-drive system with additional drive modes.

Boot space measures in at 479 litres with the second row up, 117L with the third row up, or 739L with the second and third row folded flat.

Like all Chery products, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max is offered with seven years and unlimited kilometres of warranty, a seven-year capped-price servicing program, and seven years of roadside assistance.
