The 2014 Kia Cerato range of configurations is currently priced from $4,490.
Our most recent review of the 2014 Kia Cerato resulted in a score of 8 out of 10 for that particular example.
Carsguide Contributing Journalist Ewan Kennedy had this to say at the time: Budget on spending from $7000 to $11,000 for a 2010 Kia Cerato Koup; Finding a suitable service dealership that’s convenient to your living and/or work areas makes a lot of sense before opting for which used car to buy.

This is what Ewan Kennedy liked most about this particular version of the Kia Cerato: Sporty look, Large boot and interior for the class, Suspension pretty good for Australian roads
The 2014 Kia Cerato carries a braked towing capacity of up to 1200 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.
The Kia Cerato is also known as Kia Forte in markets outside Australia.
The Kia Cerato 2014 prices range from $4,510 for the basic trim level Hatchback SiR to $13,420 for the top of the range Hatchback SLi Nav.
It’s an unusual situation, so I would try to negotiate with Kia and appeal to their good will to adjust the warranty for you.

We contacted Kia seeking advice and were told: “This was not a known issue. Intermittent issues are the hardest to find but the fact that there is a video will certainly help. Our tech guys think that it sounds like it could be the driver’s door actuator or the lock assembly if it is only occurring on the driver’s door. If all of the doors are unlocking when the door lock switch is activated then it could be a switch assembly.” The people at Kia would like to see your video, and get your contact details along with the car’s VIN. If you could do that they have said they would work with the dealer to resolve the problem.

You’re right to be wary of the Golf, but apart from the well publicised stories of trouble with the DSG gearbox a few years ago it has been in more recent times a sound vehicle. We get very few complaints from owners of these later cars, so I wouldn’t be concerned about buying one. The Cerato is also a fine car and would be a good choice. If I were forced to choose I would probably gamble on the Golf for its driving dynamics.
