Fiat Ducato Review, For Sale, Specs, Colours & Models in Australia

Fiat Professional offers the Ducato van in medium, long and extra-long wheelbase versions with low- and mid-roof options.

All are powered by a 2.2L four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine driving the front wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

It also remains a popular basis for camper van conversions by specialists like Jayco and Trakka.

The line-up currently starts at $57,832 for the Ducato 2.2 Mwb\mr and ranges through to $64,828 for the range-topping Ducato 2.2 XLWB\mr.

Fiat Ducato Q&As

Check out real-world situations relating to the Fiat Ducato here, particularly what our experts have to say about them.

  • What's causing my Fiat Ducato to go into limp mode?

It’s difficult to say what could be causing the problem, because it would seem to be intermittent ad they are the hardest problems of all to solve. By turning it off you are in effect rebooting the computer, so it will run normally until the next time it detects the problem. To have any chance of diagnosing the problem it needs to be evident when the mechanic does his check. If it’s not there’s nothing to see. It could be a number of things; all you can do it to persist in the hope that it will show up during a diagnostic check.

  • Best platform for a motorhome?

I've driven both and much prefer the Sprinter. The "manumatic" in the Fiat is not good and I prefer the way the Benz sits on the road, how it performs over bumps and its resistance to crosswinds.

  • Fiat Ducato motorhome noise and smoke

There are a number of possible explanations, from the turbocharger, to the fuel pump, and the injectors. Your dealer should be able to diagnose the problem, if not, take it to another dealer. If that also fails take it to a diesel engine specialist.

  • A wheelchair conversion

IT'S really too early to speculate on the reliability of the present-model vans. I would be surprised if you needed a van as big as the Sprinter or Ducato to transport your 13-year-old daughter. I would take a look at the Vito, Transporter and Trafic before the Transit. The latter has a pretty ordinary reputation for reliability. Have a talk to the people at Capital Special Vehicles, who specialise in doing the conversions.

Fiat Ducato Interior

A sealed steel bulkhead separates the cabin from the cargo bay, insulating driver and passengers from cargo bay noise and doubling as a robust cargo barrier. Leg room for the centre passenger is unusually generous, even for tall adults, which would be appreciated by a crew of three.
