The Outlander ES is the entry point to the mid-size SUV's range.
Available in either front-wheel drive, priced at $39,990, or all-wheel drive, priced at $42,490, the ES is only available in five-seat layout.
It is equipped with the entry-level equipment, including cloth interior trim with manual seat adjust, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and multimedia touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, an eight-speaker Yamaha audio system, sat-nav with Google integration, dual-zone climate and most of the available active safety equipment.
This includes auto emergency braking front and rear, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.
The all-wheel-drive version scores Mitsubishi's signature 'super all-wheel control' software with an additional driving mode. Importantly, the updated Outlander for 2025 gets an Australian-developed suspension tune.
Boot capacity is 485 litres in all five-seat combustion-powered Outlanders, and a full-size spare resides under the floor.
The combustion Outlander is only offered with one powertrain, a 2.5-litre non-turbo petrol engine (135kW/244Nm) mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The front-wheel-drive ES is claimed to consume 7.5L/100km of fuel on the combined cycle, while the all-wheel drive consumes 7.8L/100km and both can use base 91RON fuel.
