Volkswagen Id.5

Volkswagen Id.5

FROM $62,990

The Volkswagen ID.5 debuted globally in late 2021 as the more aerodynamic sibling to the ID.4. It arrived as a coupe-styled medium SUV built on the modular MEB electric platform. While European buyers saw initial deliveries in early 2022, the model reached the Australian market in late 2025. In China, this sleek electric vehicle is sold under the ID. Unyx 06 nameplate through a joint venture.

Engineering updates arrived for the 2024 model year to improve performance and efficiency. These changes included a more powerful rear electric motor and an updated infotainment system with a larger 12.9-inch touchscreen. Volkswagen also refined the battery management software to support faster DC charging speeds. These technical revisions ensured the 2025 Volkswagen ID.5 remained competitive against a growing field of electric rivals.

In Australia the Volkswagen ID.5 range offers a choice between the Pro and the performance-focused GTX. The GTX variant uses dual motors to provide all-wheel drive and extra power. Despite the sloping roofline, the cabin remains spacious for five passengers. This model represents a key part of the brand’s transition away from internal-combustion engines as it expands the electric ID. family locally.
