Volkswagen ID.4 Review, For Sale & News in Australia

FROM $59,990

The Volkswagen ID.4 was unveiled in 2020 as the brand’s first global electric SUV. It was built on the MEB platform and aimed at mainstream buyers wanting a practical EV. The model launched first in Europe, China and the United States, before rolling out to other markets. In some regions it was also marketed as the Volkswagen ID.4 Crozz to distinguish it from earlier prototypes.

By 2022, Volkswagen expanded the ID.4 line-up with more powertrain options, including rear and all-wheel drive versions. Battery upgrades improved range and charging speeds, while production spread to new factories to meet demand. Small design updates were also introduced, keeping the model competitive in a growing EV segment.

Today, the Volkswagen ID.4 remains central to the brand’s electric strategy. It sits below the larger ID.6 in some markets and above the compact ID.3. The SUV has become a global best-seller for Volkswagen, shaping the company’s transition to full electrification.

The line-up currently starts at $59,990 for the Id.4 Pro and ranges through to $69,990 for the range-topping Id.4 Gtx 4Motion.
