Finally, the ute gets its engine transplant.

After receiving an array of Holley engine parts, the 6.0-litre V8 now looks like a completely different unit.

The most notable addition to the LS1 is the intake manifold which sits on top of the V8 and sticks out of the engine bay.

Before being hooked up to the engine, the transmission recieves aftermarket parts like a bellhousing, flywheel and clutch so the gearbox doesn’t explode when the boys burn up the rear tyres (it would be un-Straya for them not to do so).

Also, worth noting is the front fenders of the Holden which have been buffed out, so the installation of the wide body kit is already underway.

You can get a sneak peak of the final product in Forza Motorsport 7 with the Commodore ute being a part of the Hoonigan car pack.

If you've been living under a rock for the past couple of months, Hoonigan are aimming to get 600hp (447kW) out of its NOS powered ute and to show-off the completed car at this year's SEMA.

We'll continue to keep you posted on any further updates of the Hoonigan ute project.

Are you excited for the final product? Let us know in the comments.

Following a passion shared by his father and grandfather, Mitchell’s love of cars really kicked off with his Godfather’s purchase of a new Mazda RX-8. Exposure to that car changed his world forever, leading to an RX-7 obsession. To feed his automotive addiction, Mitchell decided to become a motoring journalist and made his mark at several high-profile motoring publications before landing at CarsGuide. While he is a rotary loyalist, Mitchell also has a massive love for Aussie muscle cars, and dreams of one day getting behind the wheel of a Charger R/T E49 (if anyone will let him). His other passions include Queensland, and spending Saturdays with the boys.
