Holden Barina 2009 FAQs

Check out real-world situations relating to the Holden Barina 2009 here, particularly what our experts have to say about them.

  • Holden Barina 2009: Static interference issue

I'm told that the analog AM signals being transmitted at the moment are not the best quality, stations are concentrating more on the digital signals and neglecting the analog signals that will disappear, which might explain your problems. We're also told that a reception problem should affect all stations, not just one as you suggest, and our radio expert is at a loss to explain why the interference might be worse when the brakes are applied. Perhaps take it to your local radio specialist and have them check it out for you.

  • Holden Barina 2009: Brake issue

Holden recalled all 2009-2010 Barinas because of a sticky valve in the Electronic Brake Control Module. If affected by the problem the braking performance was reduced and the pedal feel was spongy. That would seem to be the most likely cause of your problem. Take it to a Holden dealer and have it checked.

  • Holden Barina 2009: Multiple cylinder misfire

You certainly shouldn't need to recondition the cylinder head after such a short time. I would be checking for reasons the valves might be sticking. As the fuel injectors gave trouble shortly afterwards I would be looking to the fuel side of the engine. First, I would change fuel brands, definitely not use E10, perhaps use a higher-octane fuel, and regularly run fuel system cleaner through the car.
