Recently, at the end of my night shift I found I my 2009 Holden Barina would not shift into any gear. After 45 min of trying it eventually went into reverse, then into drive, which enabled me to drive home, frustrated and angry. To cut a long story short the dealer told me they could not look at it immediately and they suggested I leave the car and they would get to it as soon as possible. When I went to retrieve the car the next morning I was asked "did you notice the fan for heater/air conditioner only works on the maximum speed and also that the airbag display signal is on, even though the airbags have never been activated." I was informed I would have to rebook the car in and that this may not be covered by warranty! Surely these faults indicate an electrical problem with the car. Having been informed that they have "quite a number of new Barinas in with the same problem" why has Holden not done a recall? Also, who can I contact at Holden head office?
I would expect that the issues relating to the air-conditioner and airbags would be covered by the warranty, if you are told that it isn't then kick up a stick. Contact Holden Customer Service on 1800 033 349.
