XPeng has teased its next possible Tesla Model 3 Performance and BYD Seal Performance rival, the electric E29 Coupe.
According to CarNewsChina, the E29 – the name it has been classified by XPeng internally – will launch in China in the second half of 2025 under the brand’s new 'Kunpeng' platform, which could eventually support range-extended variants.
That means it is likely to pack 800-volt architecture, rapid 5C charging capabilities and AI-integrated intelligence.
XPeng is yet to publicise any technical details on E29, although a trademark filing for the name “P7 Ultra” suggests it could borrow some of its underpinnings from the current P7 sedan.
Namely, a dual-electric-motor setup that provides 348kW of power (which already exceeds a Model 3 by 5kW), as well as an 86kWh battery that delivers 576km of WLTP-rated range.
Design-wise, the E29 has been teased with a more aerodynamic silhouette than the P7, including a sleeker front end, a fastback profile, flush door handles and a retractable rear spoiler.
It also adds new LED headlights, a full-width tail-light bar with revised LED light signatures, and an illuminated XPeng badge.

No official images of the interior have been teased as of yet, although spy shots procured by CarNewsChina show a large central touchscreen, a three-spoke steering wheel, and what it claims could be purple leather upholstery.
The E29 is expected to carry XPeng’s latest in-car software, Xmart OS 2.0, which includes features like an augmented reality head-up display.
Vision-based advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are expected to be powered by XPeng’s next-gen AI Turing chip, which is also a feature of the new Kunpeng platform.

CarNewsChina expects the E29 to debut in China in the third quarter of 2025, potentially at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
A future Australian launch could be on the cards as XPeng establishes itself in the Australian market.
Jason Clarke, CEO of the brand’s local distributor, TrueEV, has previously told CarsGuide he hopes to “reignite” the non-SUV category by bringing alternative models to Australia, including the M03 sedan, which staged its Australian debut at the Melbourne motor show in April.

The five-door electric sedan is on par to a Tesla Model 3 or BYD Seal in size, but carries a liftback tailgate instead. At this stage an Australian launch remains unconfirmed.
Expect more details on the E29, including news of possible Australian launch, closer to its official release in China later this year.
