Australia’s cheapest car just got more expensive.

The Kia Picanto Sport manual hatchback has increased in price by $500 to $19,190.

The Picanto still comes in far cheaper than other hatchback rivals including the Toyota Yaris at $28,990 starting price.

This increase headlines a series of price hikes across Hyundai and Kia’s petrol and diesel range varying from $250 to $1000.

The good news for EV buyers is that all EVs across Kia and Hyundai have stayed the same, while Kia’s Sportage and Sorento hybrid range also remain untouched in price.

The Kia Carnival S people mover now costs $1000 more starting at $52,070, while the Sorrento S has gone up $500 to $51,380 and the Stonic to $26,160.

Kia’s mid-size Sportage SUV is another to cop a $500 increase, now available from $38,490.

Hyundai’s price changes include the popular hatchback i30 that starts at $29,250, which is $250 more expensive.

The Staria now starts from $49,750 - a $250 increase which also applies to the Venue, now $23,000 for the manual variant and the Kona which starts at $32,500.

In Hyundai’s larger SUV range, the Tucson is another to jump $250, now starting at $38,350 and the Santa Fe has jumped $650 in price to $53,650.

Some models have stayed the same such as the Kia’s K4 S sedan at $30,590 and the Tasman S dual cab ute ($42,990).
