A new all-electric SUV has just landed.

KGM (formerly SsangYong) has released the price and specifications for its Torres EVX mid-size SUV.

It has a recommended drive-away price of $58,000, and comes in a single variant that has one electric motor, producing 152kW and 339Nm to the front wheels.

Its 80.6kWh battery offers a range of 462km, according to the global WLTP testing.

KGM has not provided an official maximum DC charging speed, but it is estimated to be 145kW.

The Torres is already available in Australia as a petrol variant, with a drive-away price of $38,000 for the base front-wheel drive.

A hybrid version of the car launched earlier this month, but this all-electric variant represents a decent price jump on both.

KGM has managed to sell 264 examples so far this year, up from 97 compared to this time last year, but that is much fewer than many of its rivals.

The Torres EVX launches into the very competitive and rapidly expanding electric mid-size SUV segment, with many rivals already firmly established.

BYD’s Sealion 7 is approaching 10,000 sales for 2025, starting from $54,990, before on-road costs, while Geely’s EX5 has had over 3000 sales in its first year so far.

Another potential rival will be Leapmotor’s all-electric C10 variant, which starts from $45,888, before on-roads costs, but it is yet to muster significant sales figures.

The Torres EVX is one of two recent Oz-bound all-electric cars from KGM, following the launch of the Musso Ute earlier this month.

The car will be available in dealerships later this month, with sales to start on 1 December.
