The Audi RS6’s relatively sensible sedan and wagon looks are underpinned by supercar-level performance.
Over successive generations this AWD ‘sleeper’ has been powered by turbocharged V8 and naturally aspirated V10 powerplants.
The current, fourth-generation version is available in ‘Avant’ (wagon) form only and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds.
The line-up currently starts at $252,600 for the RS6 Avant 4.0 Tfsi Quattro Mhev and ranges through to $399,000 for the range-topping RS6 Avant Gt.
Eight colours are available for the Audi RS6, six being no-cost options. Those six are 'Nardo Grey', 'Glacier White Metallic', 'Floret Silver Metallic', 'Daytona Grey Pearl', 'Mythos Black Metallic' and 'Grenadine Red Metallic'.
'Ascari Blue Metallic' costs $1800, while 'Sebring Black Crystal' costs $1400.
Audi also offers select colours in matt finish for $15,700.
The RS6 is equipped with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 463kW/850Nm. It sends drive to all four wheels via an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The Audi RS6's 0-100km/h sprint time is just 3.4 seconds in the Performance, but if you bought one of 22 RS6 GTs in Australia, that's 3.3 seconds.
Top speed is 305km/h.
The Audi RS6's interior is, depending on the options ticked, finished in plenty of dark leather trim, gloss and either carbon or chrome.
The layout is spacious, but with few big storage spaces and sporty looking design elements.
I would expect it to depreciate at the same rate as any other car in the short to medium term, but it could hold its value longer as it becomes more desirable as a collector car.

The Audi RS6 consumes 11.8L/100km of fuel, using 98 RON fuel, which draws from a 72-litre fuel tank.
This should mean around 630km of driving range, but realistically you could see up to 18.0L/100km depending on your driving style, which would lower that to about 400km.
