I have just bought a new 2016 Nissan X-Trail.
The first problem I found while I was driving the car uphill with three adults was smoke coming out of engine bay with an accompanying smell.
The engine temp gauge was reading normal, and roadside assistance couldn't find any issue. Next day I took it to my dealer and was told it was the engine coating burning.
It happened again two days ago while driving uphill with three adults.
Secondly the car is shuddering while in Drive mode and idle. The vibration is more when the AC is on in Drive mode and sitting idle.
I took it to the dealer again they said engine mount is fine and couldn't find a fault. But they want the car booked in for a week to diagnose everything.
Has anyone else had this issue? Why this could be happening? Does this kind of vibration refer to any engine fault?
I bought a 1999 BMW over 12 months ago. It has had two tailshaft centre bearings replaced, and presently one is broken. This has mechanics baffled. Can you help?
There is a vibration in the left front bushings of my 2015 Toyota Kluger, it's been there since new. Toyota has been slow to recognize my complaint and after 12 months of trying various methods of resolving the problem says there is a recall on the front bushings, but it will take 6 to 12 months for the new design to come through. Is there a recall on the bushings? What are other solutions to the problem without negating our warranty?
Our 2010 VW Golf has been off the road for some months now with three mechanics, including the local dealer, confirming that the engine compression is kaput. It's only done 73,000 km and has always been serviced by the VW dealer. In order to bolster our argument with VW, do you know how many engines have been replaced in this model in Australia?

Ford has had it in their workshop. They have replaced the switches on the steering wheel, but it continues to do the same thing, to the point that I no longer use it, as it's too unreliable. Do you know if this is a common thing, or is it just my car?
Can a car's computer be accessed to see its driving history, for example, it's speed and rpm etc. before purchase so you know you're not buying something that's been flogged hard?

I'm very happy with my 2016 Kia Cerato, but it bugs me that the speedo overstates my true speed by heaps. For example, when my GPS shows the true speed at 78 or 79 km/h, the car's speedo shows about 86 or 87. I appreciate that these figures are within 10 %, which I understand to be the regulated limit and I suppose I can adjust accordingly, but surely it's really not good enough. The dealer says it can't be changed, is that really correct?
We have had a number of minor problems with our 2012 Ford Ranger XLT, but just recently it lost all power and came to a stop. The dealer has said we require an entire new long engine due to unleaded fuel in a diesel tank causing metal shavings. We are positive we have never put unleaded fuel in the tank and have the docket from our last fuel-up stating DSL. Just wondering if this is an issue seen often and Ford may be trying to get out of replacing it? They have stated they have not actually tested the fuel, they just think that's what it is. The cost of a new engine has been quoted $12,500. What else could cause metal shavings?
