Honda capped price servicing - cost, schedule & info
By Matt Campbell · 10 Aug 2022
Honda offers a capped-price servicing program for all of its current models, with the company's Australian arm labelling it Honda Tailored Servicing for vehicles sold prior to July 1, 2021, or Honda Genuine Servicing for those purchased thereafter.According to Honda Australia, "we want to make sure that Honda servicing is tailored to your needs", and "that means guiding you through how much it costs to maintain your vehicle".So, whether you own a Jazz or a Civic Type R, a HR-V or an Odyssey, there's a capped-price plan to suit your car.But depending on what you own, the servicing schedule may be different. Older Honda models require maintenance every six months or 10,000km, where newer examples from the Japanese company need servicing every 12 months or 10,000km, whichever occurs first. Those intervals are worse than plenty of competitors (many now have annual or 15,000km intervals), but Honda makes up for it with transparent pricing, including costs for additional extras.Honda is one of the brands that now has a compelling five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty for its models, as well as a five-year roadside assist program.See the table below for the average cost per service for each of the models in the Honda range, plus the service intervals applicable to each of the different variants listed. If you want to find out more about a specific manufacturer's capped price servicing, please see below:

What to look for in a car battery charger
By David Morley · 23 Mar 2022
As well as a set of spanners, a jack, screwdrivers, a hammer and penetrating fluid, there’s another piece of equipment without which no workshop – from the home shed to the biggest pro workshop – will ever be complete without. And that’s a good car battery charger.

What can I do after the engine cover arms of my 2019 Isuzu D-Max broke after being serviced?
By David Morley · 08 Sep 2021

My 2019 Isuzu D-Max plastic engine cover has broken arms after a service. I was advised this is a common problem and told I would need to buy a new one. The car only has 4500km and two of the legs have been reattached with superglue as per service-advice team. So this means that it would have been broken during the 3000km service? If it is a common problem then surely it would be a warranty issue? What can I do here?

Why has my Toyota HiAce van's gearbox failed?
By David Morley · 10 Aug 2021

Is it normal for a vehicle’s gearbox to be worn out in such a short time? Our one-year-old Toyota HiAce van’s gearbox has apparently failed/worn-down, and we are being told it's not covered by warranty. The vehicle has been driven 15,000km by an experienced driver who has only ever purchased and driven HiAce vans in his tradesman job where he is on road every day and who has never had this issue in 35 years. We have been quoted to replace flywheel, clutch kit and pilot bearing. Parts cost is $4429.00 and labour is $1000.00. We don't understand how all this is possible on a new car that has been serviced at 1000km and 10,000km.
