RAM 1500 2027 Accessories

The Ram 1500 has a reasonable amount of standard features for a ute, including a modern touchscreen for multimedia, a digital driver display, plus specific elements like an electric rear window, damped tailgate, and kick-down step to reach into the tub.

Higher variants get heated and vented leather seats, sunroofs, storage boxes flanking the rear tub, larger screens in the interior and ambient lighting with more speakers when a premium sound system is included.

RAM 1500 2027 Colours

RAM 1500 2027 FAQs

What towing capacity do I need for a float with two horses?

The rule of thumb is that a float with two horses on board is around the 2000kg mark, so that’s the absolute bare minimum towing limit you’d be looking at. Even then, by the time you add a couple of saddles, some feed bins and whatever else it is horsey people cart around, you could easily be looking at 2.5 or even three tonnes.

With that in mind, the smart move would be to buy a dual-cab ute with as much towing capacity as possible. The good news there is that many of the popular choices can tow a braked trailer weighing anything up to 3.5 tonnes. Think about it; if a ute can tow 3.5 tonnes, it should cope easily with two tonnes.

If, on the other hand, we’re talking a three-axle float and a pair of Clydesdale horses, you might have to look at one of the US-made utes from the likes of RAM or other US-market brands. And even then, you need to be careful: Even though some versions of the RAM ute can legally tow 4500kg with a braked trailer, to do so and not exceed the GCM (the combined mass of the vehicle and trailer) the payload in the tray falls to less than 100kg.

RAM 1500 2027 Engine

The Ram 1500 now has a twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, available in two tunes.

The Standard Output engine makes 313kW and 635Nm, while the High Output tune is good for 403kW and 707Nm.

Both utilise an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system.

RAM 1500 2027 Interior

The Ram 1500's interior is extremely spacious, with generous seat sizing and large storage spaces in true American style.

Materials range from cloth to leather and involve styled trim in higher variants, but Australian models get upmarket versions of much of the 1500's trim regardless of variant.

RAM 1500 2027 Seats

The Ram 1500 has a generous seating arrangement with two large, comfortable seats in the front in a traditional layout, while the second row is a wide bench seat with space for three.

The second-row seat can be folded up to make space for storage, too.

RAM 1500 2027 Speed

The Ram 1500 has two engine options, a Standard and a High Output version of the Hurrican inline six.

With the Standard Output, the Ram 1500 should hit 100km/h in about six seconds, but the High Output should knock about half a second off that.

Top speed should be not much more than 160km/h, but hitting those speeds on anything other than a drag strip or autobahn would be anxiety-inducing.

RAM 1500 2027 Range

The Ram 1500 has a 98-litre fuel tank in most variants, able to be filled with regular unleaded petrol and consumed at a claimed 10.7L/100km rate.

Theoretically that should mean around 900km on a tank, but realistically you should plan for between 700km and 800km.

The top-spec Limited version of the 1500 has a larger 125L tank, and needs premium unleaded for its more powerful engine. It sips more fuel at 11.8L/100km but should still manage close to 1000km per tank.

RAM 1500 2027 Boot Space

The Ram 1500's tub is 1702mm long, 1295mm wide and 543mm deep, though versions with the RamBox storage spaces have a 1270mm wide tub. Those boxes are 420L on each side.

Total space is 1.5 metres cubed, and payload ranges from 1014kg (Express) down to 727kg (Limited) to reach the overall max GVM of 3505kg.
