The 2019 Hyundai I30 range of configurations is currently priced from $2,899.
Carsguide Senior Journalist Laura Berry had this to say at the time: Time to announce our winner, if it isn’t obvious already. There is no doubt, the Kia Cerato GT not only offers the most features for the lowest driveaway price, but it’s the sportiest hatch here, with exceptional driving dynamics for this class. The Cerato GT also has the longest warranty, outstanding safety technology and the best legroom and boot space of the hatches here. Unbeatable.

The 2019 Hyundai I30 carries a braked towing capacity of up to 1600 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.
The Hyundai I30 is also known as Hyundai Elantra GT in markets outside Australia.
The Hyundai I30 2019 prices range from $12,760 for the basic trim level Hatchback Go to $34,320 for the top of the range Hatchback N Performance Lux S.Roof.
This is not an uncommon thing with some Hyundai models of this vintage. Because of either poor design or materials, some Hyundai engines wear faster than they should. The first signs are rough running, noisy operation and oil consumption. On that basis, I reckon you may have one of those affected engines. That’s supported by the borescope examination that showed wear and the fact that the engine needed two litres of oil to bring it back to a normal level.
It's a fair bet the 1000km monitoring will show the engine has a thirst for oil, at which point it probably needs to be either replaced or rebuilt. My experience suggests that Hyundai is taking this seriously and is replacing engines under warranty with an improved unit that should last much better.
Give the dealership every chance to figure out what’s actually happening under the bonnet and then the time to make it right. You now have what’s called a pre-existing issue, so even if the warranty runs out, Hyundai knows the problem occurred while still within the warranty period. If your case is denied, then it’s time to contact Hyundai Australia’s customer service department and then, if you still don’t have any luck the ACCC which administers Australian Consumer Law and will be well versed with this issue.

The Kia’s seven-year factory warranty is – and should be – a big selling point. But that’s countered by much more expensive servicing over the Hyundai. Keen driveaway pricing also works in the Kia’s favour, however. Frankly, both are great cars with lots of useable performance (they share the same engine, actually) and practical layouts.
So, it could come down to a philosophical debate: The i30 N Line sits one rung below the hero i30 version, the N. The GT, meanwhile, is the flagship Cerato, so you don’t need to explain to the neighbours why you didn’t buy the flashest one. But for a lot of buyers, a manual transmission is the gearbox of choice in quick little hatches like these, and only the Hyundai offers a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT. In the Kia, it’s the DCT or nothing.

$27,790 would be a good price. I wouldn’t pay any extra for the accessories you quote, I would want the dealer to include them. The protection packs are a dealer thing, so shop around to see what best suits you.

A large floating screen measuring 8.0 inches sits prominently in the i30’s dashboard, boasting features such as satellite navigation, USB input and smartphone mirroring – at least in higher grades. Although swathed in hard plastic trim, the touch points of the i30 are good, including the option of leather seats, steering wheel and shifter. Space is also ample in the small hatchback, as seen in these images, and boot space is certainly usable.
The following Hyundai is available with five seats. The i30 Go and Active variants are available with only Black cloth seat trim. The N Line and N Line Premium variants come with Black leather trim. The Elite and Premium variants are both available with the choice of either Black or Beige leather seat trim.
