The third model in the range still carries the L designation but is powered by the bigger boxer four, weighing in at 2.5-litres and priced at $33,240, slightly less than the 2.0D-L. Power is up to 126kW and torque rises to 235Nm, with a small increase in consumption to 8.1L/100km.

The 2.5i-L comes standard with 17-inch alloys, dual zone climate control, remote central locking, cloth trim and a full-size spare. The six-speaker stereo is run from a 7.0-inch touchscreen running Subaru's Starlink software. 

Safety comes in the form of seven airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls and three top-tether baby seat anchors and two ISOFIX points.
