BYD Australia has announced a serious discount for its flagship all-electric SUV.

The brand is offering $4000 cashback on its currently-range-topping Sealion 7 EV.

In order to be eligible for this latest cashback offer on the Sealion 7, the car must be ordered by 14 December 2025, and delivered by 31 December.

The deal applies only to the rear-wheel drive ‘Premium’ variant, which normally starts from $54,990, before on-road costs.

The discount sees the car drop in price to $50,990, pending those on-road costs.

The Sealion 7 Premium's single rear electric motor produces 230kW and 380Nm, with a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds.

Its 83kWh battery offers a driving range of 482km, according to the WLTP testing cycle.

The Sealion 7 has had a strong introduction to the Australian market this year, approaching 11,000 sales for 2025.

It has outperformed many of its fully electric rivals, including the Geely EX5, which joined the market at roughly the same time early this year.

This deal is just the latest of BYD’s offerings, following the brand cutting prices substantially over the Black Friday weekend.

The popular Shark 6 plug-in hybrid ute, was available with a $4500 cashback offer, while the rest of BYD’s range was being offered with $3000 cashback. This included the Sealion 7, along with the PHEV Sealion 6 SUV, among its other models.

BYD will bring across several new cars in 2026, including the Sealion 8 large SUV PHEV and the smaller price-leading Sealion 5 plug-in hybrid mid-sizer.
