A new performance all-electric SUV hero is approaching.
Hyundai’s luxury arm Genesis has unveiled a high-performance example of its GV60.
The Magma offers big changes to design and performance, as it aims to hunt down the European performance giants.

It will be the brand’s first ever high-performance production car.
The Magma upgrade appears to have been blueprinted with Hyundai’s all-electric Ioniq 5 N variant, which saw a similar performance beef-up, and shares the same E-GMP platform.
It has dual electric motors mounted at the front and rear of the car, producing 478kW and 790Nm, with a 0-200km/h time of 10.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 264km/h.
This is a significant boost from the standard car that produces 234kW and 605Nm, and the performance variant that makes 360kW and 700Nm.
The track-focussed Ioniq 5 N launched in Australia in early 2024, packing 448kW and 740Nm.
The Magma edition GV60 is more than just a power upgrade and has undergone a substantial re-work, which includes track-ready brakes, electronically controlled and buffed suspension to aid stability and minimise vibrations.
There is an electronic limited-slip differential to boost traction for the car with its 21-inch wheels.
The car has specialist performance features, such as a virtual gear shift system, drift mode and high performance battery control.
When in ‘Magma’ mode, the digital instrument cluster becomes a three-circle layout displaying key high-performance information, such as G-force and temperatures.
The standard GV60 starts from more than $100,000 (before on-road costs), and the Magma is expected to come at a serious premium.
The Magma upgrade brings the GV60 into direct competition with the performance branches of Europe’s elite brands, like BMW’s ‘M’ series, and Mercedes-AMG.
The GV60 Magma will debut in Australia some time in 2026.
