Volkswagen Polo 2012 FAQs
Check out real-world situations relating to the Volkswagen Polo 2012 here, particularly what our experts have to say about them.
VW dual-glutch gearbox
VW was certainly an early adopter of the dual-clutch gearbox, and they have had quite a deal of trouble with it in other models where they've used it. There are certainly a lot of frustrated VW owners out there who have experienced problems with the DSG gearbox. My opinion is that it is not trouble free at this point and I would not buy one myself. I would prefer a conventional manual gearbox; it's simple, proven and reliable. The only issue is that because manuals are on the way out they are not getting much attention from carmakers.Show more
Volkswagen Polo 2012: Gearbox failed
It’s not a common fault. Given that your car has only done 94,000 km I would suggest you contact VW to see if they might come to the party with at least part of the cost of repairs as a gesture of good will.Show more
Volkswagen Polo 2012: Car won't reverse
It’s a dual-clutch transmission, which raises the question of a problem with the transmission or the electronics that control it. Have a dealer or an automatic transmission mechanic assess it for you.Show more
