Selling tips
What do I have to do to generate interest in my wife's 2009 VW Passat diesel wagon? We've owned it from new, it's been fully VW serviced, and is in excellent condition inside and out. The selling price is flexible, but there has been no interest. We replaced it with a brand new one and even with the emissions rating 'scandal' we still see the CDI Passat wagon as economic to run, versatile and good value for money.
I won a car in a competition. The prize is worth $18,000. Can I sell it back to the dealership before I receive it? If so what sort of price should I look to get?
My elderly father is no longer able to drive his car, a 1993 Mitsubishi Magna SE, and wants to sell it, but we are getting conflicting information about the value of the car. It has done 86,000 km, is in good condition, always garaged, and has had two owners. Can you assist in a price range that the car may be worth to sell privately?
I am thinking of selling my 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK230 cabriolet and was wondering what sort of price could I expect to ask? It's only done 98,000 km and is in very good nick.
I want to sell my 2007 Nissan Patrol, but it has a badly blistered dash and I have no idea how much it has been devalued by this problem. It has done only 175,000 km and has a full tow-pack, dual batteries, full roof rack, new winch, snorkel and as new tyres. Could you please give me a guide?
Any tips on selling a 2011 Hyundai i45 with a spun bearing that basically needs a new motor?
I have noticed that trade-in valuation sites on the Internet do not give you the option to tick if you have options fitted to a car. I have a $10,000 enhancement pack fitted on my 2013 Lexus IS300h Luxury and when I had the vehicle valued at Lexus I was only offered the lowest price on a vehicle without any options on the Internet sites. Are additional options fitted on a new vehicle reflected when trading in the vehicle, or are they a waste of money? Are you better off purchasing a higher model with the options standard when trade in time comes around?
I have a much-loved 2007 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Exclusive diesel with all options, including leather seats, mood lighting etc. and it is generally in excellent condition. It's mostly been driven on the highway and the engine is running very quietly and smoothly, having travelled just over 200,000 km. I am the only owner and have the full service history. The only issue is that the automatic transmission has just failed. Where can I sell the car without having the transmission fixed?
My 2000 BMW 318i is in excellent mechanical order, but the central locking is broken. You can open the driver's door with the key, but the other doors do not open. I have had the problem diagnosed and quoted by an auto electrician and can provide this information to a buyer, but I do not want to fix it myself. It is currently registered until November, am I able to sell the car in a registered and roadworthy condition with the locking issue? What are my responsibilities for this if I sell it in 'as is' condition?
I want to buy a car to export to India, but Customs are asking me for a pro-forma invoice from the dealership. How do you arrange that?
