Car Servicing
I have a 2012 model Holden Cruze Equipe automatic, which I have had since new. It has always been serviced at the same dealership, from which it was purchased. Total kilometres to date are 116,703. When driving the other day, the car suddenly lost acceleration but the engine was still revving. It slowly came to a complete stop. The engine-malfunction light was showing on the dash. All oil, petrol and water levels were okay.
So, I started the car again and it slowly crawled approximately another 100 metres before stopping. I had to call a towing service to have it towed back to dealer service division. They have had the car back for over a day to check the fault. I have called them but they don't have an answer yet. Not sure what the problem could be. Would you have any suggestions?
How do you look up the service history when there is no logbook, but have to go online? The car is a 2018 Mercedes X-Class.
I have a Hyundai Tucson Highlander 2019 that has driven just 3900kms in a year. Recently I was informed, after the first service at one year/10,000kms that the timing seal/crankshaft seal needs to be replaced as there was a very minor oil leak. I was shocked as it’s a brand-new car, the top-end model and it’s hardly been driven.
I am worried as I wanted to keep this car for the next 10 years. Is it a serious problem? The dealership is happy to reseal it but I want to know does it affect the life of the car? Will it happen again? Do they have to open the engine? What could be the cause of this issue?
The problem with my 2015 Polo is that the water bottle in front where you put anti-freeze or coolant became half-filled with oil. l bought a new water-pump and thermostat, new head gasket, changed the oil, took the cylinder head to an engineer for a light skimming. But then, a day after driving, the new oil got into water bottle again. At first the temperature warning was on and later disappeared, but later the temperature gauge was on normal. Now the temperature gauge is over normal and that oil and anti-freeze is bleeding out of the water bottle.
My 2008 Mercedes Vito cuts out while it's moving or idling.
The engine in my 2015 BT-50 cuts out. It started again and got me home with no limp mode, but the power-train, battery and oil light all came on when it cut out. I was told a sad battery could cause this? The vehicle is still on its original battery and I reckon it's a bit suss; with the car’s radio on at work, I’ve had to jump start it to go home. Any thoughts?
I just bought a 2009 Peugeot 308 second-hand from someone who said it had just had a big service, but no entry in the log books and no service sticker as a friend had allegedly done it. Today, the oil-warning light came on with triangular warning light so I stopped and put oil in. The triangular warning light is still popping up systematically on my dash and oil lamp light is still showing all the time.
I have a 2004 Holden Vectra, which is surging while idling. I got the coil packs replaced, but it’s still doing it. What could it be?
