Car Servicing
My 2010 ASX has an issue with the LED running lights and LED taillight on the driver's side. When the remote is used to unlock the car they flash quickly and stay off while the passenger side stays on for the normal amount of time. When the headlights are turned on the driver side LEDs don't work unless I turn the headlights off and then on again very quickly.
What's a reasonable life expectancy for a regularly serviced, no towing, no accidents, 2011 Ford Mondeo diesel transmission? Mine has 103,500 km and Ford refuses to take any responsibility for its failure.
I have a friend who has a 2002 Nissan X-Trail Ti petrol. The vehicle/steering shudders when under acceleration at any speed. They have had new front tyres fitted, balanced, and a wheel alignment done. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
There is a grinding noise in my 2015 Kia Rio 5-door hatch. I have had the car checked by Kia's mechanics five times and they can't fix the problem. They told me that the handbrake was too tight and that the handbrake was engaged all the time, even when it was off. It was like this from day one. I have done 20,000 km in the car. They should have found it in the pre-delivery, if they did it. I can't get any satisfaction. Where do I go, what do I do?
I have just purchased a 2013 Mitsubishi Triton from my boss. I have been driving it for around two weeks getting used to the feel of how it drives and getting used to the feel of the turbo. I noticed a split on the compressed air hose and oil leaking out, and I suspect the turbo oil seals have gone. The car has been fully serviced at by a Mitsubishi dealer is due for its 135,000 km service. The split in the hose will most likely cause the power to be inconsistent. Would the turbo seals be covered under extended warranty?
My 2013 BMW 116i is currently in for its 40,000 km service. The dealer has told me that the coolant expansion bottle has a minor crack and that a warning light would have been glowing on my dashboard. No light has been glowing, so they believe they have caught it early, but they still want to replace it. They are telling me the replacement part is approx. $800 plus labour. I don't think it's right that the car should be deteriorating like this, in such a short time, what do you think? Should they be replacing it free of charge?
Over the last six months cracks in the dash of my 2004 Toyota LandCruiser Prado have gone from minor, over the passenger side dash/airbag area, to now the entire length of the dash virtually splitting it in half behind the steering wheel and around the console and air conditioning vents. I take very good care of my vehicle, but I don't think this is something I could have prevented. Any advice?
Both front door handles on my 2011 Holden Captiva have broken and I want to know if this should be covered as a warranty item even though the car is now six years old.
I own a 2013 Hyundai i30 Tourer, which has just done 58,000 km and had its four-year service. At that service I was advised the front brake rotors and front and rear disc pads needed replacement. Apparently the rotors were below the wear limit making machining not possible. I have owned a number of cars in the last 20 years or so, all of which had done well over 100,000 km and I don't recall ever replacing rotors. While I can accept the disc pads perhaps, I was very surprised that the rotors had worn out. Do you think that is normal for this particular i30 model?
I recently bought a used 2011 Kia Cerato SLi. The car's been great in most respects, the only issue is with the 12V socket, which doesn't seem to work, and the USB socket which tries and fails connecting about five times before giving up. All I'm after is to be able to charge my phone, but neither option works. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions?
