Car Servicing
I own a 2012 Land Rover Discovery Sport with only 58,000 km on it. The engine has just failed and LRA want nothing to do with it even though they are aware of many failures. Surely they have a responsibility to cover a failure so early in the engine life. Fit for purpose I think not. What can I do to get them to come to the party?
I need someone with auto electrics knowledge, or knows the wiring of a 2013 J1 Chery. Where can I go?
I have a 2014 Ford Ranger that has only done 52,000 km that runs rough on cold start-up and blows smoke. Ford charged $160 for an hour of diagnostic time with no evidence of cause found. Charged another $320 to remove the turbo, still no cause found. They now want more money to remove the heads. Seems extraordinary that a motor with such low ks is doing this. The vehicle has not been used for 4WD, river crossings etc. only used on bitumen roads with about 15,000 km towing a 2800 kg van. Most of the time it sits in the driveway.
We purchased a new Isuzu D-Max 3.0-litre diesel space cab 4x4 in late 2017 and have done about 70,000 km. We farm a stock/cereal grain property so the vehicle is used in the paddocks and mainly on gravel roads. In April this year we noticed a rattling noise in the front passenger side. We delivered it to the dealership for checking over in May as it’s under warranty. Our D-Max was deemed unroadworthy. It has been totally dismantled and two months later is now still in the repair shop awaiting parts. It took Isuzu Australia from May 8 to the July 5 to authorize the repair under warranty. The problem is a faulty radiator support panel wheel arch and skirt assembly, which is severely cracked. The metal used was too brittle and has to be replaced. So as of July 6 we are in an absolute predicament without our main working vehicle on our property and are extremely disappointed with Isuzu’s handling of this. I e-mailed customer support with a detailed letter of grievance on July 2 and have not had a reply. We have been informed of other Isuzu vehicles are having the same issues. Is this cause for a recall?
I need to replace the discs on my 2004 Volkswagen Caddy. I have bought discs online but the invoice doesn't mention the Caddy just the Audi A3 and VW Golf 2004 rear discs 255 mm. Can you please confirm if these will fit my 2004 VW Caddy?
What models have the same auto transmission as the 1999 Nissan Pulsar?
My 2009 Holden Cruze recently had the transmission fail. I took the car to the dealer we purchased it from and was told it will cost $6000 to repair. The vehicle has done just over 200,000 km and has been very reliable. I have seen a lot on-line about the dreaded Cruze transmission and wonder if there is an avenue for the compensation, as this seems to be a regular problem. The car was bought second hand and has been regularly serviced by a dealer.
Does the 2009 Toyota Aurion have a timing belt/ drive that requires replacement?
My 2017 Land Rover Discovery is 18 months old and has less than 28,000 km. So far the car has had four major oil leaks (rear timing plug loose, rear main seal leaking, front timing cover leaking, oil filler extension leaking), the auto transmission case is porous and leaking oil, the transmission needs replacing as per dealer’s report, but now JLR Australia are saying their engineers think it can be fixed instead of being replaced, the fan belt was not fitted correctly from factory and shredded so that all the pulleys need replacing, the windscreen is leaking water, and three different door seals need replacing. These are major issues on top of a pile of minor issues with the car. Any advice on what you think we can do would be much appreciated. We think the car should be replaced and so did the dealer, but JLR Australia said no.
