Car Servicing
I recently bought a 2012 Holden Captiva diesel and after I’ve found that the transmission has issues. Driving at different speeds it takes a bit longer for the transmission to react. It feels like the brakes are grabbing. I also found the transmission oil level dealers’ low. There are no oil leaks underneath.
I recently brought a 2016 Peugeot 508, but I'm experiencing a problem with it. It always tells me to stop the engine when am driving. I have taken it to a garage for the mechanic to check, but he told me that it is the turbo. He serviced it but it is still giving me the same problem. The engine oil is always very hot with a little smoke coming off it. I would appreciate your advice.
What causes a whistling noise from muffler while accelerating under load in my '07 Subaru Forester? The whistling disappears at normal driving speeds. Performance doesn't seem to be affected. What happens if I ignore this?
I recently brought a Holden Captiva 2009 SUV LX model and the check-engine light stays on. I had a new alternator put in by electrical place and they said that’s why the engine light was staying on. They fixed it but a week later came back on so I have to take it back to get scanned.
My motor has been serviced two months ago but I feel the motor isn't running as free as it should be. It has done 279,732 km, but feel my transmission might need servicing because it doesn't change gears smoothly. It lacks the power I think it should have. My friend has same model and their car is quick to take off and is smooth through the engine where as my SUV isn't. What could the problem be?
How long should a rear universal joint last on a 2015 VW Amarok? Mine has a fair bit of movement but no vibration yet or a clunk. And are they expensive to replace?
My 2011 Holden Epica was going until I used it to jump-start my Honda. After the jump-start, I disconnect the proper jump-cables, parked the Holden and turned it off. After taking the Honda for a drive, I then went to start the Holden, but it wouldn't switch on.
I got my son in law to give it a jump-start. It was struggling to start so he gave it a bit of a rev, and it still wouldn't start. The Holden was absolutely fine before I jump-started the Honda. I thought it might have blown a fuse, they were fine.
While I was under the bonnet thought I'd check the water and oil, pulled the dipstick out and it was like pulling it out of a jar of Golden Syrup. And when I removed the oil cap, holy moly, the oil had turned to sludge? I've been told that Holdens these days are always having problems.
My new M-UX has an error code "check system" when putting it in Park. It also loses the display letters (D, R, P etc) and when this happens and it blows a 15-amp fuse.
I have a 2014 model BT-50 auto 3.2-litre diesel. The car has done 130,000km and since about 90,000 it has developed an intermittent clunk in the first-to-second gear change. I have had the gearbox serviced twice and the mechanics couldn't find the fault. I have this week taken it to Mazda at Aspley to request an answer. It now clunks almost every change. The rest of the gear changes are smooth. They have diagnosed a faulty EGR valve and replaced it $1200 later. However, the gearbox still clunks. They charged me $165 for a diagnostic check and no solution. Any suggestions?
I have a 2006 Nissan X-Trail. It was running fine around my town, or so I thought until I took it out of town. Around 30km out, it got hot so I pulled over and steam came out of the bonnet. I turned it off to cool down. Then once it cooled down for a while, I went to put coolant in the radiator. But it wouldn't start. Some of my friends said it sounds like it doesn't have any compression. I was wondering if I blew a head gasket, or something worse?
The fuel consumption on my 2000 Nissan Patrol is high, what could be causing this?
