Glass is not something that is normally covered by the warranty, but the problem your wife has experienced is not normal. I would expect it's a design or quality issue, a product failure as you say, and should be fixed under the warranty. Go back to the dealer and have them take photos of it and send them to Subaru with the request to have it repaired under warranty.
It’s a tough call, the Qashqai gets the nod on price and for having a diesel engine option and better luggage capacity, the XV is all-wheel drive, but there’s no diesel. The Nissan by a nose.
Our earlier comparisons are out of date with the arrival of new XV opponents including the Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V and Renault Captur. The XV is now trailing those three, at least.
The Freelander is well past its use-by date and both the CX-3 and XV could be too small in the back for his needs. He should try to stretch to a Mazda CX-5, which is still best in class.
I agree, that’s not something you should have to live with, and being told that you should is a sign that Subaru can’t sort the problem. I would persist in talking with head office and don’t mince words when you’re talking to them.
The XV will be fine around town but is very small in the boot, and the same goes for the CX-3. If you want a similar cabin and boot space to the Liberty then go for the CX-5, but also have a look at the new Kia Sportage.
My choice would definitely be the Golf, for comfort and the range and economy on the highway. The XV is all right but not great, with a tiny boot, so the VW gets The Tick.
The reputation of the XV is great but, for me, it's too small in the boot and the CVT auto takes the edge off the performance.
The XV is the narrowest vehicle of its type, no other SUV we checked was as narrow, which makes your quest a difficult one. Finding a vehicle that has more grunt isn't difficult, you can check the specs of the various cars on the web, but I think you'll have trouble finding a car that fits your width needs. You might need to rethink the type of car you want.
I have just driven the CX-3, Honda HR-V and Renault Captur and rate the Mazda as clearly best of the bunch, as well as better than the XV. It gets The Tick but be careful that you don’t spend too much — there are 14 models in the line-up.
