The Renault Scenic E-Tech small/medium SUV arrived in Australia in early 2026 as a battery-electric vehicle. It marks a significant shift for a nameplate that first launched in 1996 as the Megane Scenic. That original model created the compact MPV segment in Europe and won the 1997 European Car of the Year award. It later dropped the Megane prefix in 1999 to become a standalone range.
The nameplate spans five generations. It evolved through several iterations of people movers including the seven-seat Grand Scenic before production of the internal-combustion versions ended in 2022. Renault reinvented the model in 2024 as a dedicated electric SUV built on the AmpR Medium platform. This version secured another European Car of the Year title in 2024. In some markets the vehicle is also known as the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV through a platform sharing agreement.
The current Renault Scenic E-Tech SUV features two battery options with a driving range up to 625km. The local Australian line-up includes the Techno and the flagship Esprit Alpine variants. While previous generations in Australia were sold as versatile multi-purpose vehicles until 2010, the latest model focuses on a crossover body style. It provides a 545L boot and sustainable interior materials to suit modern family buyers.
The line-up currently starts at $55,990 for the Scenic E-Tech Techno Ev60 and ranges through to $65,990 for the range-topping Scenic E-Tech Espirit Alpine Ev87.

Standard colours are: ‘Flame Red’, ‘Night Blue’, ‘Diamond Black’, ‘Shadow Grey’ and ‘Pearl White’. Two-tone combinations are optionally available, as is a matte combination finish on the top-spec Esprit Alpine.
Equipment highlights include a 12-inch multimedia touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver display, sat-nav, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree surround camera view, all LED exterior lights, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and six-speaker Arkamys audio. There’s also dual-zone climate control, an electric tailgate, auto-folding side mirrors, heated front seats and steering wheel, 48-colour ambient interior lighting, keyless entry and start and alloy wheels.
The Esprit Alpine ups the ante with 20-inch rims, nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio, synthetic leather and cloth seat trim, six-way power adjustment (with memory settings) for driver and front passenger seats, a massaging driver’s seat, brushed metal pedal covers and facial recognition for seat and mirror settings.
The interior feels slick and screen-rich but not at the expense of user-friendly physical controls for audio, ventilation and other commonly used functions.
There’s plenty of breathing room up front with the centre screen angled towards the driver enhancing the cockpit feel for the one doing the steering.
In the second row, there’s heaps of leg and headroom as well as enough shoulder room (and foot room thanks to a flat floor) for three adults on short to mid-length trips.
The entry-level Scenic E-Tech Techno's electric motor transfers 125kW and 280Nm to the front wheels, while the Techno Long Range and top-spec Esprit Alpine’s more powerful motor raises outputs to 160kW/300Nm.

Boot volume with the rear seats upright is useful at close to 545 litres (VDA), expanding to around 1670L with the 40/20/40 split-fold second row lowered.
Renault says the entry-grade Scenic Techno will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds with a top speed of 150km/h.
The more powerful Techno Long Range and Esprit Alpine models lower the 0-100km/h number to 7.9sec and raise top speed to 170km/h.
Range for the standard Techno is 430km which is at the lower end of expectations for a medium electric SUV, but adding the bigger battery pushes that number out to 625km, which is much healthier and useful day-to-day.
