The XUV700 is a front-wheel drive SUV from India carmaker Mahindra.
Known primarily for its tractors and knock about work vehicles, Mahindra entered the small-SUV segment with the XUV700 in 2023, offering a high level of luxury refinement at a price that took much of the car world by surprise.
As they assert themselves as a serious player in the global car market, expect to see much more from them.
Only 'Everest White' is a no-cost colour. 'Midnight Black', 'Dazzling Silver' and 'Red Rage' are $495 options.
The Mahindra XUV700 is a seven-seat family SUV with two seats in the third row. The passenger-side single outboard seat tumbles flat then up, leaving plenty of space to get into the third row. For child seats there are two ISOFIX points and two top tethers.

The Mahindra XUV700's cabin is well designed and executed, but won't win any design awards. It is functional and easy to navigate with a mix of soft and hard materials and a mix of trim colours throughout. There is ample occupant space in the second row and more space than you'd expect in the third row.

Standard gear in some grades includes a panoramic sunroof, dual 10.25 inch screens, synthetic leather trim, and keyless entry and start, a 12-speaker audio system, wireless charging and a leather steering wheel. You also get a 360-degree surround-view monitor, Bluetooth, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels and an electronic park brake.
Mahindra doesn't quote a figure for boot space, but the slim space behind the third row appears to be around 200 litres, while the space with the third row folded down should be close to between 600 and 700 litres.
The XUV700 is powered by Mahindra's ‘mStallion’ 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine delivering 149kW of power and 380Nm of torque. It's paired with a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels only.
Expect zero to 100km/h acceleration in around 9.5 seconds and a top speed in the region of 180km/h.
