It will come as no surprise that 2025 was a massive year for new-model launches. The sheer number of new cars arriving in Australian showrooms has been unprecedented.

As a result it’s been a big year on YouTube for CarsGuide, with a massive number of people checking out our videos, both long and short form.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this year’s top 10 most viewed videos list includes a number of new brands. Legacy brands scored a big chunk of views of course, but the winner is a brand that is not new to the top of our most viewed list.

Read More About Hyundai Kona

Without further ado, here’s what you watched on our Youtube channel this year;

10. Hyundai Kona vs Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid 2025 review: Which petrol-electric small SUV is best?

Small SUVs represent one of the biggest market segments in Australia by sales, and the Hyundai Kona and Toyota Corolla Cross are two of the most popular. But which compact hybrid runabout won this comparison test? Click play on the video to find out the winner.

9. GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV 2025 review: New high-performance plug-in hybrid SUV overtakes BYD Sealion 6!

The rise in popularity of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) this past year can’t be underestimated. The Haval H6 GT PHEV is Chinese giant GWM’s first plug-in and the swoopy SUV clearly struck a chord.

8. GWM Cannon 2025 review: Updated Chinese ute gets larger diesel engine and increased towing capacity

It might have been met with a collective ‘meh’ when it launched a few years back, but the updates GWM made to its Cannon were meaningful and improved the ute considerably. This is GWM’s second entry on this list.

7. LandCruiser 250 off-road test! Toyota Prado 2025 review: Altitude | Is this the best new family 4WD?

We knew any new-generation Toyota Prado video would do big numbers. But adding CarsGuide’s resident 4x4 expert, Marcus Craft, into the mix and putting it to the ultimate off-road test, the video soared!

6. Denza B5 2026 review: BYD's new hybrid 4WD targets Toyota Prado! | Fangchengbao Leopard Bao 5 tested

Our first taste of BYD’s premium offshoot Denza was always going to make a splash, but our international first drive video from China continues to be a strong performer. And now the car is finally on sale in Australia!

5. Jaecoo J8 2025 review: Chery's new large SUV shows value over Toyota Kluger – with just five seats

The second-highest ranking video for a Chinese brand is the Jaecoo J8, a new five-seat family SUV from Chery’s sister brand. A Mazda CX-60 rival, the new family SUV contender is petrol only, for now.

4. Isuzu MU-X 2025 review: Has a big update made this popular Ford Everest rival the best new 4WD?

A facelift can do wonders for a car and the refreshed MU-X certainly gave Isuzu a boost. There might be a lot of interest in new brands, but Isuzu is the highest ranked video from a ‘legacy’ brand on the list.

3. XPeng G6 2025 review: New Chinese electric car brings premium feel over best-selling Tesla Model Y

Speaking of new brands, few have generated as much interest as XPeng. The Chinese newcomer hit the ground running with its G6 SUV and with a range of new models launching in 2026, it’s just the beginning.

2. Ranger rattler! BYD Shark 6 hybrid 2025 review: Plug-in EV tech takes dual-cab pick-up to next level

Surely the most talked about model of 2025 is the BYD Shark 6. The plug-in hybrid dual-cab has captured the attention of tradies and weekend adventurers alike. And a quick look at any supermarket carpark proves how popular this model has been this year.

1. Mahindra XUV700 2026 review Australia: Does the updated family SUV outdo the Mitsubishi Outlander?

If you’ve paid attention to our top 10 video lists for the past few years you’ll not be surprised that the Mahindra XUV700 was our most watched video in 2025. Because a different XUV700 video was on top last year, while the Mahindra Scorpio off-roader topped the list in 2023. There’s no denying the power of Mahindra’s popularity.

My video focused on the updated model year 2025 XUV700 which ushered in some subtle but meaningful changes.

Can Mahindra do it again in 2026? Keep an eye on CarsGuide.com.au to find out.

Calling out the make and model of every single car he saw as a toddler might have challenged his parents’ patience, but it was clearly a starting point for Tim Nicholson’s journey into automotive journalism. Tim launched the program, Fender Bender, on community radio station JOY 94.9 during completion of his Master of Arts (Media and Communications). This led to an entry role at industry publication GoAuto, before eventually taking the role of Managing Editor. A stint as RACV’s Motoring Editor – including being an Australia’s Best Cars judge – provided a different perspective to automotive media, before leading him to CarsGuide where he started as a Contributing Journalist in September 2021, and transitioned to Senior Editor in April 2022, before becoming Managing Editor in December 2022.
