The Chery Tiggo 9 made its debut in 2023 as the brand’s new flagship SUV, sitting above the Tiggo 8 Pro in size and status. Built on Chery’s latest T2X platform, it aimed to showcase the brand’s shift toward premium design and technology, featuring a long wheelbase, seven-seat layout, and a focus on comfort. Early models launched first in China before rolling out to export markets under different names.
Through 2024 and 2025, the Chery Tiggo 9 line-up expanded with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, reflecting Chery’s global push toward electrification. The model was also sold in some regions as the Chery Tiggo 9 Pro or Exeed VX Max, depending on local branding. Its updated cabin tech and stronger refinement helped it compete more directly with established mid- to large SUVs.
Today, the Chery Tiggo 9 represents Chery’s most advanced SUV yet. It highlights how far the brand has evolved from its budget roots, offering features and performance aimed squarely at mainstream rivals from Hyundai, Kia and Toyota.
The Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid comes in four colours: 'Aurora Green', 'Cosmic Black', 'Star White', 'Mercurial Grey' and 'Technical Grey'.
The Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid is available in one grade currently - the Ultimate. The features list is extensive and includes leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats in the front row and second row outboard seats. There are big screens, a 15.6-inch media display and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a head-up display. There’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat nav, a 12-speaker Sony sound system and digital radio, too.
The Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid comes exclusively in the Ultimate grade and has a modern and premium looking interior with black leather seats, big display screens and is largely free from the clutter of buttons and dials.
The Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid has three electric motors (two at the front and one at the rear), plus a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
The output of the two front motors is: 75kW/170Nm and 90kW/220Nm. The output of the rear motor is 175W/310Nm. The combustion engine output is 150kW/215Nm. The combined output of the entire set up is a whopping 315kW and 580Nm. A dedicated hybrid transmission sends the drive to all four wheels.

Boot space according to Chery is larger than it looks - with the manufacturer saying that with the third row up there is 143 litres of cargo capacity and with five seats stowed it's 819 litres.
The Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid has a 0-100km/h time of about eight seconds. Top speed is in excess of 200km/h.
Super hybrids are so called because of their relatively big batteries and longer ranges. Chery says that on a full 70-litre tank and charged battery the Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid has a range of 1250km (NEDC). The WLPT range isn’t given but while it will still be impressive it would be less than the NEDC. The same goes for the electric range of 170km (NEDC).
