The GT-Line is the middle ground in the Megane wagon line-up, sitting above the Zen and below the sports-flavoured GT.

Wearing a list price of $33,490 or ongoing drive-away pricing of $36,490, it sits $6000 above the Zen and $6000 beneath the GT.

GT-Line extra features over the Zen include a Renault Sport body styling pack, an 8.7-inch 'R-LINK 2' multimedia system with portrait-oriented display, front sport seats with seat heaters, Alcantara seat trim, nappa leather-trimmed steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, active cruise control, city AEB, collision alerts, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, auto high beam, side parking sensors, auto parking function, a rear seat armrest with cupholders, tinted rear windows and 17-inch alloy wheels.

GT-Line options include the $1490 'Premium Pack' that brings Bose audio and LED headlights, but the Bose subwoofer replaces the spare tyre with an inflation kit. You can also specify 18-inch 'Grand Tour' alloy wheels for an extra $990, and metallic paint will cost a further $600.

The GT-Line wagon is powered by the same 97kW/205Nm TCe 130 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol four as the Zen, paired with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. The official combined fuel consumption figure is 6.2L/100km.

Back when all cars burned fuel and couldn't drive themselves, Mal was curing boredom by scanning every car his parents' VB Commodore drove past. His childhood appreciation for the car world exploded during a three-year stint in the US, and serious questions were asked when he spent a good chunk of his uni career perfecting lap times at Wakefield Park. Mal got his big break scooping the VE II Commodore, before a stint at Overlander magazine and kicking off his online career with The Motor Report in its heyday. These days he's exactly the same height as Michael Schumacher and uses his powers for good at the helm of CarsGuide's editorial team. Mal proudly shuns brand allegiance and counts three young kids, an EH Holden, NA MX-5, KE20 Corolla, W116 Mercedes-Benz and the world's most versatile Toyota Echo among his personal stable. He also craves a Subaru Vortex, so get in touch if you know where to find one.
