The five-seat Mazda CX-5 Maxx SUV was updated in March 2017, and is based on the car that was launched in 2012.
It's offered in three specs; the 2.0-litre petrol powered manual front wheel drive version is $28,690, and the automatic version is $30,690.
It's also offered in a 2.5-litre petrol auto version with all wheel drive for $33,690. All prices are before on-road costs.
The Maxx is the first step in a five-model, 12-variant range and sits beneath the Maxx Sport (which ranges from $34,390 to $40,390), the new Touring (ranging from $38,990 to $41,990), the GT (costing between $44,390 and $47,390) and the range-topping Akera (between $46,990 and $49,990).
The Maxx offers 17-inch steel wheels, cloth trim, automatic emergency braking, reversing camera, push-button start, LED headlights, blind spot monitoring, smart city braking front and rear and rear cross traffic alert.
Built in Japan, the front wheel drive Maxx uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 114kw and 200Nm, while the all wheel drive Maxx uses a 2.5-litre petrol engine that produces 140kW and 251Nm. It's mated to either a six-speed manual (FWD only) or a six-speed automatic transmission.
