Mercedes-Benz GLA, B-Class, E-Class special edition models add extra kit

The E200 Sport Edition sedan features an AMG Line bodykit, 19-inch wheels and a sunroof for a driveaway price under $100,000.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has launched new special editions of the GLA 180 small SUV, B180 tallboy hatch and E200 large sedan to coincide with the already-released Sport Edition versions of the C-Class sedan and coupe.

Kicking off at $49,900 driveaway, the GLA 180 Urban Edition adds metallic paint, panoramic glass sunroof, 19-inch wheels, off-road comfort suspension and keyless entry, as well as heated front seats, velour floor mats and black Artico leather interior.

Like the standard GLA 180 that retails for $44,700 before on-road costs, the Urban Edition is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine outputting 90kW of power and 200Nm of toque.

Drive is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) for a 5.7 litre per 100km fuel economy rating.

Meanwhile, the B-Class-based B180 Sport Edition retails for $52,900 driveaway, and adds a panoramic glass sunroof, electronically adjustable and heated front seats, 18-inch AMG wheels, AMG Line bodykit, surround-view monitor, lowered suspension and privacy glass.

Powering the B180 Sport Edition is a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine developing 100kW/200Nm that drives the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT.

Like the E200, the Sport Edition is propelled by a 135kW/300Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.

For reference, the new-generation B-Class launched in September in B180 form for $46,400 before on-roads.

Finally, the E200 Sport Edition is priced at $98,900 driveaway and adds a sunroof, head-up display, Burmester premium sound system, AMG Line bodykit, 20-inch AMG wheels, wireless smartphone charger and heated front seats to the base E-Class sedan.

Like the $93,640 before on-roads E200, the Sport Edition is propelled by a 135kW/300Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that drives the rear wheels via a nine-speed auto.

The GLA, B-Class and E-Class special edition vehicles arrive after the introduction of the Sport Edition C-Class sedan and coupe for $69,900 and $74,900 driveaway respectively.

The mid-size C-Class wagon can also be optioned with the Sport Edition package, which includes 19-inch AMG wheels, sunroof, adaptive cruise control, AMG Line bodykit and head-up display, for an additional $7200.

All special editions are only available to order and delivery between now and the end of the year.
