A major brand has made some big changes to one of its flagship EVs.

Hyundai has announced the price and specifications for its all-electric Ioniq 5 mid-size SUV range for 2026.

The brand has consolidated the range substantially, trimming down from 11 variants to four. It has replaced the Dynamic and Epiq variants with Elite and N Line Premium.

The new cheapest Ioniq 5 starts from roughly $400 more than what it was in 2025, at $76,200, before on-road costs.

The 5 N has also jumped nearly $5000 in price, up to $115,000.

Hyundai has discontinued the previous entry level variant of the Ioniq 5, which started from $69,800. That car came with a smaller 63kWh battery and less powerful electric motor.

Hyundai was forced to slash the price of 2025 Ioniq 5 by more than 15 per cent this year to boost demand.

These price changes come after the Ioniq 5 has suffered a substantial drop in sales this year, launching in Australia in 2021.

There are power choices with the new Ioniq 5.

The first is the single electric motor producing 168kW and 350Nm.

Dual motor variants make a combined 239kW and 605Nm.

The performance N variant ups the ante with its dual motors combining for 478kW and 770Nm, with the boost mode activated

All variants get an 84kWh battery, with a range of 570km (WLTP) on the base model when paired with 19-inch wheels.
