2024 Ineos Quartermaster dual cab chassis revealed: Hardcore, hard-working 4x4 set to challenge Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series, Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton

The new Quartermaster variant’s exposed ladder frame provides a platform for a variety of body types.

The rise and rise of ‘traditional’ 4x4 specialist Ineos continues with the release of the British brand’s new Quartermaster five-seat dual cab chassis variant.

Continuing the military-themed naming protocol started with the original Grenadier and extended by the upcoming Fusilier EV model, the Quartermaster is a hardcore, body-on-frame four-wheel-drive offering the same choice of BMW-sourced 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbo-petrol (210kW/450Nm) or twin turbo-diesel (183kW/550Nm) engine as the Grenadier wagon, both paired with an eight-speed auto transmission with drive going to all four wheels.

Already offered is a dual-cab ute form, the new cab chassis Quartermaster shares the same 3227mm wheelbase (305mm longer than the Grenadier).

In classic cab chassis style, the new Quartermaster variant’s exposed ladder frame provides a platform for a variety of body types including drop-side tray, tray and canopy, enclosed service bodies and camper combinations. Braked trailer towing capacity is 3500kg.

Built (in Hambach, France) on the same production line as existing Grenadier models, the Quartermaster cab chassis shares its five-seat double cab, full box-section ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, two-speed transfer case, and up to three locking differentials with the Quartermaster ute.

Commenting on the new Quartermaster cab chassis’s versatility, Ineos Automotive Commercial Director (and son of the company’s billionaire founder, Sir James Ratcliffe) said: "In the first year since the Grenadier launched we have already seen a number of specialist conversions, particularly with emergency services such as fire, police and inshore rescue, so launching the Quartermaster Chassis Cab is a natural step that takes our off-road expertise into many commercial areas that need a class leading 4x4."

The Ineos Quartermaster ute is due in Australian showrooms mid-this year, with timing for this cab chassis variant yet to be confirmed.

What we do know is the Quartermaster will be offered in base, Trailmaster, and Fieldmaster grades, kicking off at $110,000, before on-road costs, for the ute and $102,000, before on-roads, for the cab chassis.
