HR-V or Qashqai

I need some advice on a new car as we are considering a Honda HR-V or a Nissan Qashqai. My wife and I are about to retire, most driving is in the city but there are occasional trips to the country so luggage space is important for us. A comfortable ride is very important also, pricing up to about $34,000. Perhaps you could also suggest another make for our consideration?
